- Biography
- Eva Goldberg was born in Goerlitz, Germany and her family often traveled to Amsterdam to visit relatives. Because Eva did not speak Dutch, her aunt introduced her to two German girls who lived in the neighborhood--Anne Frank and Susanne Ledermann. They first met in 1936. After Eva's father was arrested on Kristallnacht, the family fled to Amsterdam. They remained for a few months until they were able to immigrate to England and then the United States in 1939. Eva passed away in 1996.
