Event History: Kibbutz Mekor Baruch was established in Bacoli Italy, near Naples, in March 1946 at the instigation of Rabbi Baruch Epstein, a Palestinian rabbi serving in the British army. It consisted of 90 members, almost all affiliated with Torah VeAvodah religious Zionism. Because of its location next to the sea, it was decided that the members would be taught fishing. Among the Palestinian Jews who assisted in the hachshara was Shlomo Teitelbaum (later Tal), father of the donor.
