    Biography
    Margot Schumm (born Margot Kalberman) was the daughter of Leo Kaelbermann (later Kalberman) and Melanie (Mella) Kalberman. Leo was born on October 17, 1902 in Grossreichholzheim and had two siblings, Manfred and Paula. Margot was born on October 3, 1929 in Mannheim Germany where her father was a butcher. She had a younger sister Ellen (later Kleinmann). In 1934 Leo Kalberman took advantage of the offer of a relative in American to sponsor the family, and they all immigrated to the United States. Margot completed high school and college earning a Master's degree in organic chemistry. While in graduate school she met and married a fellow student, Richard Schumm.
