- Biography
- Esther Buchsbaum (born Esther Rosenbaum) is the daughter of Louis Rosenbaum from Drohiczyn in Eastern Poland. Louis immigrated to the United States and had hoped to bring his family over to join him but without success. After the war began, Louis made several attempts to get visas for his family, all to no avail. All of the family perished in the Holocaust including Louis' mother, Chana Malka Perkovitzky Rosenbaum (b. 1880), and his siblings Chaieh Guta Laye Rosenbaum Taumtschen (b. 1902), her husband Rabbi Chaim Taumtschenan and son Yankel (Yaakov) b. 1934; Menachem Rosenbaum (b. 1904), his wife Sarah and children Yosef (b. 1934) and Henya (b. 1936); Zlate Riva Rosenbaum Grynblatt (b. 1906), her husband Avraham Yaakov Grynblatt and son Aron (b. 1939); Yankel Rosenbaum (b. 1910). It is presumed that all of them died in a mass shooting in October 1941.
