The house was only a few streets away from Neville Chamberlain's home and was donated to the Refugee Committee by a Jewish family.

Photos are of girls who lived there in the 1940's: Marion Kronenberg (later lived in Washington Heights, N.Y.) Next(Lilo)Liselotte Marcus, Herta Jokel (Wien), Fritzi Landes, Gisela Kaufmann (later Zanders), Sonja Goldmann (later Hancock), Marianne ?, Ruth Meier, Margot Glass and Lilly Cohen (later Kasha, wearing high school graduation gown), and Hermine (Mimi) Reisner (later Bergwein, wearing the suit) who was the assistant to the Hostel Matron.
