- Biography
- Bella Preskowski is the daughter of Jacob Preskowski and Chana Tykocka Preskowski. Jacob was born in Pruzany and Chana was born in Grajewo. Both immigrated from Poland to Palestine. Bella was born in 1933, and her sister Lea was born in 1935. In the spring of 1939 Chana brought her two young daughters from Tel Aviv to Grajewo, Poland to visit her parents: Mordechai and Ryvka Tykocki. With the September 1939 German invasion of Poland and the Soviet annexation of Eastern Poland Chana and her daughters were unable to leave. Jacob Preskovski was a Palestinian citizen and managed to obtain a "emergency certificate" for his wife and children to return home. They reached Palestine in the fall of 1940. All the relatives in Grajewo and Pruzany were murdered during the Holocaust.
