    Biography
Terese Levandauskiene (grandmother of the donor) owned a butcher shop at 54 Jurbarkas Street, right outside the walls of the Kovno ghetto. Some of the prisoners from the ghetto came to know her between 1941 and 1944. Before the liquidation of the ghetto, someone from the ghetto came and left these photographs with her, asking her to keep them safe until they can return and reclaim them. They never did. Nevertheless, she held on to them for the rest of her life.
