    Event History
Merxhausen was a state sponsored facility for mentaly ill people, established on the site of a former monastery. Under the Nazi regime, many patients there were killed under their "euthanasia" program. After 1942, it served as a military hospital, and after the war it was used as a sanitorium for displaced persons recovering from illness.
