Photograph | Photograph Number: 81174

A young boy sitting on stairs outside, selling sunflower seeds.

According to Solly Ganor, "The boy in the fur hat was called 'Aldona,' I remember him because he always used to sing a Lithuanian love song called 'Aldona.' His parents had perished in the beginning of the war and he lived with his aunt, who worked in town. She would smuggle into the ghetto sunflower seeds and 'Aldona' would sell them at the ghetto square. I heard that he was killed while trying to hide in a cellar while the ghetto was evacuated in July 1944. "
