Gravediggers unload bodies from a cart into a mass grave in the Warsaw ghetto cemetery.

Joest's caption reads: "It was an enormous grave, into which cart after cart of bodies was tipped. After [the bodies were in] the men spread lime chloride over them, and the grave was left open for the next cart."
