During the sporadic wave of attacks on the Jewish-owned shops in Germany during 1938-1939, many Jews were accosted in the streets and subjected to public humiliation through forced labor.  One of the Nazi's favorite acts of forced labor was to compel Jews and other dissidents to sweep city streets and clean walls.
