Jews from Subcarpathian Rus who have been selected for forced labor at Auschwitz-Birkenau, are marched to another section of the camp.

Photograph | Photograph Number: 77263

Jews from Subcarpathian Rus who have been selected for forced labor at Auschwitz-Birkenau, are marched to another section of the camp.

The head of a young boy can be seen on the right. Normally a child this age would have been sent to die with his mother, but sometimes they would be taken as a "pipl", or personal page, to one of the guards. Some children were chosen for "medical experiments" and a few were put in a labor brigade of their own.
