The Film Archive obtained digital copies of Samuel Fuller’s World War II Collection including black and white and color footage shot in spring 1945. The first film documents the Allied liberation of the Falkenau concentration camp in Czechoslovakia and the meticulous preparation of the camp’s corpses for burial. Another reel shows American troops helping a wounded German soldier in the aftermath of a counter-assault. The third film depicts daily life of European towns under American occupation, including recreation and leisure, infrastructure rebuilding, and the role of the Red Cross.
