    Interview Summary
    Edith Bronner Klein and Lillian Bronner Glass, discuss their experiences as residents of the Safe Haven Refugee Camp after fleeing Hungary; their family being caught and jailed after attempting to sneak across the Yugoslav border, and later were smuggled into the Italian-occupied area of Yugoslavia; the relief they felt being in Oswego; the opportunities given to them; the friendships forged in Oswego; Edith’s time working as an assistant in the camp hospital; and their memories from after the war when they were allowed to stay in the US and to work and attend night school.

    The interview with Edith Klein and Lillian Glass was conducted on August 6, 1994, by Safe Haven, Inc. as part of a project documenting the testimonies of refugees from the Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter in Oswego, N.Y. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received a copy of the interview in April 1996.
