Overview
- Brief Narrative
- The trunk was sent to Lore Gotthelf (later Jacobs) from her parents, Sigmund and Gertrud Gotthelf, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. They had sent Lore to England via the Kindertransport. The trunk contained many household items, like table cloths, with the hope that her parents would be able to join her when their quota number came through. Lore met Erwin Jacobowitz (later Jacobs) at the Birmingham Refugee Club held at the Singers Hill synagogue. The couple later married, and used the trunk again when the family immigrated to Canada in 1953.
