Crowned cross [kronenkreuz] oval pin issued by the Central-Ausschuss fur Innere Mission [Central Committee for Inner Mission] of the Protestant Church in Germany to people who donated to their charity organization, the Inner Mission. The Nazi regime, which governed Germany from 1933-1945, limited the church's fundraising activities to an annual Volkstag der Innere Mission [National Day of Inner Mission]. The mission would collect money on the street and go door to door seeking donations on this day. The pin shows the Kronenkreuz (crowned cross), the official sign of the Inner Mission.

Biography
[Social Welfare Organisation of the Protestant Church in Germany] The Diaconia is the social welfare organisation of the Protestant Church in Germany (EKD). It includes the regional social welfare services of the 20 EKD member churches, diaconal associations of other Protestant denominations, and approximately 80 specialist organisations working in different fields of social care, health care and education. The Inner Mission was their major charity organization in the 1930s. Hitler became Chancellor in 1933 and under the Nazi regime, the fundraising activities were limited to an annual Volkstag der Innere Mission [National Day of Inner Mission.] After the end of World War II, the relief organisation Hilfswerk der EKD, was founded to attract foreign aid and promote ecumenical contacts to fight famine, support exiles and refugees, and overcome unemployment. In 1975, Innere Mission and Hilfswerk united to become Diakonisches Werk der EKD.
