    Suzanne Soussan (née Habibou), born on December 6, 1932 in Algiers, Algeria, discusses her parents, Eli [PH] Habibou and Camille Fredj [PH] who were both born in Tlemcen, Algeria; the death of her father in 1937; her brothers Maurice (born on November 25, 1915), Marcel (born February 1, 1917), and Georges (born in June 1920); her younger brother Roger; her studies; her family’s Jewish holiday traditions at home; having no direct recollection of the outbreak of WWII because she was too young; her brothers’ military service; having little memory of the American landing on November 8, 1942, which they heard about on the radio; her marriage and children; and her immigration to Israel.

    Nicole Cohen-Addad donated a copy of her interview with Suzanne Soussan to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in August 2018. The recording is part of a series of interviews produced by Dr. Cohen-Addad beginning in 2002 with Algerian Jews and with participants in resistance against the French Vichy regime in order to help the Allies land in Algiers during the November, 8, 1942 Operation Torch.
