    Interview Summary
    Esther Starobin (née Rosenfeld), born in April 1937 in the village of Adelsheim, Germany, describes her father’s family having lived in the village for more than 200 years; being the youngest of five children, with three sisters; her sisters walking to school in Aachen after the violent anti-Jewish demonstrations of Kristallnacht in 1938 and seeing a burning Synagogue and being told to go home; her parents sending her and her sisters to England by Kindertransport in 1939; a family in Scotland that took in one of her sisters, Bertl, later turning out to be spying for the Germans; staying in Thorpe, Norwich, England with the Harrison family until 1947; her parents and her brother, Herman, being taken to the Gurs camp in southwestern France, then an organization sending Herman to the United States; her parents being sent by train to Auschwitz in August 1942 and being murdered when they arrived; her parents knowing all of their children were safe in other countries.
