Thomas Blatt, born in 1927 in Izbica, Poland, describes the arrival of Hitler’s personal militia in his village as well as German soldiers and the SS; the deportation of Jews; the influx of people from Czechoslovakia; a plan to smuggle Jews to Hungary in 1943; his job sorting clothes; destroying machines at the end of the war; and his feelings about the Nazis.

David Cohen, born in Brooklyn, NY, describes entering the Army Air Corps and going to drafting school; his lack of knowledge of the severity of conditions for Jews in Europe; liberating camps in Germany in 1945 and the conditions for the prisoners; attending to the prisoners; meeting Russian soldiers; and seeing Auschwitz.
