    Overview

    Description
The collection primarily consists of copyprints depicting concentration camps, survivors, victims, liberators, and perpetrators collected by American World War II veteran Solomon Bogard. The bulk of the photographs were taken and released by the United States Army Signal Corps, Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF), and various press outlets. Many of the photographs include typed annotations on the back. Included are depictions of Bergen-Belsen, Buchenwald, Natzweiler-Struthof, Wöbbelin, Flossenbürg, and Vught. Also included are depictions of Germany’s surrender at Reims, France, and several executions of perpetrators. Other material includes Dutch food ration stamps, clippings, and a 1938 Austrian postcard regarding the German annexation of Austria (Anschluss).
