Benno Rothenberg was born on September 10, 1904 in Munich, Germany to Isidor Nathan Rothenberg and Franziska Rothenberg (née Feniger-Lindenbaum, b. January 2, 1867). He married Ingeborg Rothenberg. They had two daughters Marion Rothenberg and Inge Rothenberg.
