    Description
    Film documents the Wilkins-Ellsworth North Polar Submarine Expedition in 1931, where valuable scientific information was collected in the hopes of reaching the Arctic. The mission failed due to repeated mechanical problems of the 'Nautilus' ship.

    Film Provenance
    S. Wallace Kagan obtained these 16mm films in Germany immediately after World War II while serving as a chief legal advisor to Gen. Lucius Clay during the Four Power talks on the de-Nazification of Germany. His wife, Consuelo Kagan, donated the films to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in November 2005.
