Siegfried Peilte, born in December 1903 in Labischin, Germany (Łabiszyn, Poland), describes his early years in Labischin; his family's decision to move to Berlin, Germany when Labischin became part of Poland; his education; his work as a banker and a store manager; Kristallnacht; the Jewish community's fear after Kristallnacht; his attempts to immigrate to the United States; his time in England waiting for his visa to be approved; his arrival to the United States in 1940; his service in the US Army in the European theater; his marriage; and his life after the war.
