    Lore Zutraun (née Arndt), born on March 22, 1922 in Berlin, Germany, discusses her childhood in Berlin; her memories of early antisemitism after Hitler rose to power; being forced to attend a Jewish school in 1935; her uncle's arrest in 1936 for having a non-Jewish girlfriend; her father's decision in early 1938 to liquidate his business; the events of Kristallnacht in November 1938; her father's subsequent arrest and imprisonment in Sachsenhausen; her parents' decision to leave Germany; their successful immigration to Columbia in May 1939; the establishment of their home and a business in Bogota; her marriage and children; her immigration with her family to the United States; her widowhood and remarriage; and her life in New York and San Francisco.

    The Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project conducted the interview with Lore Zutraun on May 16, 2001 and November 13, 2002. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the tapes of the interview from the Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project in December 2001.
