    Loni Wilk (née Meyer), born on November 29, 1923 in Hamburg, Germany, discusses her childhood in Hamburg; her family life; her education; the changes that occurred after 1933 including the loss of her father's business; her experiences during Kristallnacht in November 1938 and her family's subsequent decision to leave Germany for Shanghai, China; the voyage to Shanghai in early 1939; her experiences there; the work she performed; her family's move to the Hongkou ghetto after the Pacific war began; her marriage in 1944; her experiences at the end of the war; her immigration with her family to the United States in 1948; the help they received from the Jewish Joint Distribution Committee; and her life in the US.
