    Jacques Wolgelenter, born on December 29, 1934 in Brussels, Belgium, discusses his childhood in Brussels; his religious upbringing; the antisemitism he experienced at a young age; his experiences after the German invasion of Belgium in May 1940; the increased feeling of danger; his parents' decision to send him to hide in a Catholic school and his experiences there; his move with his mother and siblings to a convent, where they were hidden for a time; their other hiding places; his experiences during and after liberation by the British Army; his return to the family home with his mother and siblings; his continued education; his immigration to the United States in 1960; his marriage and family; his work; and the fates of other family members.

    The Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project conducted the interview with Jacques Wolgelenter on May 20, 1994. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the tapes of the interview from the Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project in February 2003.
