    Interview Summary
    Anni Bekerman discusses her childhood in Dresden, Germany; her memories of Kristallnacht in November 1938, when her father was arrested and imprisoned for two weeks; the family's decision to flee to Shanghai, China after her father was released; her family's experiences in Shanghai; her father's businesses; her attendance at a Kadoorie school; her various jobs; an interaction she had with Governor Ghoya, the Japanese administrator of the Hong Kew ghetto; the family's immigration to the United States in 1947; their arrival in San Francisco, CA; their move to Seattle, WA; and her return to San Francisco, where she married another Shanghai refugee and had a daughter.
