John Brunn discusses his childhood in Vienna, Austria; his memories of the Anschluss in March 1938; his widowed mother contacting her brother in the United States to arrange for their emigration; traveling to New York City; the challenges of adapting to a new life in the US; the financial difficulties his mother faced; his enlistment and service in the United States Army; his move to California to study at the University of California at Berkeley; his career as a physics teacher; and his marriage and family life.
