The issue and original source of the insignia, which includes US Air Force as well as Army items, is unclear. The jacket and some insignia may originally have belonged to Irving H. Rosenberg, who served in the United States Army during World War II. Rosenberg was a medic with the 46th Armored Medical Battalion, attached to the 4th Armored Division. In April 1945, this division liberated Ohrdruf, a subcamp of Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany.
