    Brief Narrative
    Emboosed eagle button that may have belonged to Irving H. Rosenberg who served in the United States Army during World War II. Rosenberg was a medic with the 46th Armored Medical Battalion, attached to the 4th Armored Division, which, in 1945, liberated Ohrdruf, a subcamp of Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany.

    Biography
    Irving H. Rosenberg, born in 1908 and from Brooklyn, New York, enlisted in the United States Army in November 1941. He served as a medic in the 46th Armored Medical Battalion, 4th Armored Division, during World War II. Rosenberg was deployed to France in 1944 and saw action in France and Germany. His battalion is known for its role in the Battle of the Bulge and for the liberation of Ohrdruf concentration camp, a subcamp of Buchenwald, in Germany. Rosenberg was wounded in the line of duty during the war and twice commended for his courage and devotion to duty during combat in France in September 1944. Rosenberg is believed to have died in Essex, New Jersey, in the 1980s.

    Physical Description
    Circular, gold colored, metal button with a raised stamped, design of the Great Seal of the United States. It depicts an eagle with outstretched wings. The eagle holds a wavy banner in his beak, above the banner is a grouping of stars. A shield is superimposed onto the body of the eagle. In the left talons are branches, and in the right, arrows. Surrounding the eagle is a smooth, outer, circular ring. The back has metal button loop with green cloth attached.
