    Interview Summary
    The interview describes Ms. Plack's childhood in Frankfurt, Germany, Hitler's rise to power, the effect that had on the Plack family, including the loss of the family business, and her young brother's immigration to the United States in February 1938. Ms. Plack describes the events of Kristallnacht in November 1938, her father's arrest and return, and her trip to England with the Kindertransport in March 1939. Ms. Plack discusses her life in England, where she lived with a guardian until being reunited in 1943 with her parents. She describes her parents' escape from Germany through Russia, Japan and the United States, their arrival in the United States in 1940, and their difficulties in adjusting to a new country. Ms. Plack describes her trip from England to the United States in December 1943, her reunion with her parents, and her work, marriage and family life in San Francisco.
