    Interview Summary
    Sylvia Felsenstein discusses her childhood in Linz, Austria; her parents' bitter divorce; being sent to boarding school in Prague at the age of ten; her memories of the Anschluss in March 1938; traveling across the border to Prague; being joined by her father, who obtained visas to Uruguay for them; her father's divorce from his Catholic second wife; traveling to Antwerp, Belgium; their voyage to Montevideo in late 1938; her life in Montevideo, where she lived for 20 years; attending a German-Spanish school in the small Jewish community there; becoming a citizen; meeting her future husband; immigrating in 1959 with her husband to California; and being joined by their children in 1961.
