    Herbert Wolff discusses his childhood in Berlin, Germany; his religious upbringing; his work in Italy in 1935 with a newspaper; his work in Kenya in 1938 on a coffee plantation; his move to Shanghai, China to join his father in 1938; his experiences there; the work he performed; his desire for revenge against the Nazis and his decision to join the French Foreign Legion; his tours of duty in Indochina and the Philippines; his return to Shanghai; the changes he experienced after the Japanese occupation began and the construction of the ghetto; his immigration to the United States; and his life in the US after the war.
