Radojka Čonkić, born in 1928 in Žabalj in the former Yugoslavia, describes the prewar community of Žabalj; Hungarian forces entering her hometown; the murder of civilians by Hungarian forces, including her father; the sight of trucks loaded with the victims' bodies; the sight of corpses floating in the Tisa river; watching the dissection of the corpse of a pregnant Jewish woman; the flight of German and Hungarian residents at the end of the war; and partisans shooting local collaborators.
