John Christopher Bechtler Collection
- Collection Summary
- John Christopher Bechtler was a U.S. soldier in Berchtesgaden in April-May 1945, serving with the Counter Intelligence Corps. He arrested and interrogated various Germans at the end of the war and collected these films. Another reel of amateur black and white film footage documenting Bechtler’s activities in Munich immediately after the war was donated in 2007 including shots of U.S. military personnel, the Counter-Intelligence Corps (CIC), and war ruins.

This armband was issued to ordinary members of the Reichsluftschutzbund [National Air Defense League].
NSDAP "Kampfbinde" armband worn by party members
Object
"Kampfbinde" essentially means "fighting armband." This design was created in 1920 and pre-dates the brownshirt uniform of the NSDAP. The design could also be replicated in various qualities of material depending on what a party member could afford.
