- Physical Description
- Black and white poster commemorating the liberation of German concentration camps. There is black text against a white background in the center which is surrounded by 9 captioned photographs. The top row has 3 pictures, from left; stone steps carved into a hillside, the camp’s entrance with walls and guard tower imposed with the poster title, and rows of male prisoners standing naked outside with snow on the ground. The second row shows crowds of cheering prisoners surrounding American tanks and soldiers on liberation day, a dead body lying on the ground, and a pile of starved corpses. The bottom row depicts crowds of people at the dedication of a monument, gallows with a noose hanging from the beam, and emaciated prisoners standing and lying in their bunks in barracks. On the bottom right is the logo for FIR (International Federation of Resistance Fighters), an inverted cone with FIR on the surface and a fire burning from the base. The thin paper has yellowed and the bottom right corner is folded, and the top edge has several small wrinkles. The bottom edge has several frays and small tears and is more yellowed that the rest.
