A Belarusian woman, born in 1928, discusses her experiences in Ula (Vitebsk Oblast), Belarus before and during WWII; the Jews living in Ulla before the war; the synagogue and Jewish school; her Jewish friend, Rosa Shehtman, who moved after the war (possibly to Israel); few Jews evacuating from the area; the German occupation; the roundup and detainment of the Jews; the area being controlled by a partisan group for a time; the German bombing of Ulla; the murders of communists and Jews; and the Stalinist repressions.
