Oral history interview with Yahad-In Unum interviewee 221R

A Russian man, born in 1931, discusses his experiences in Opyenki (Rostov Oblast), Russia before and during WWII; the German occupation; witnessing the murder of two of his Jewish neighbors (a mother and her daughter); the betrayals of the Polizei; Germans saying that they would shoot communists and Jews; the evacuation of some villagers; his assumption that locals were becoming Polizei on their own free will; seeing the murder of a woman and man, and in the same place the corpses of 10-15 people; and a violent event experienced by his mother.
