    Jacqueline Hieminga (née van Westreenen), born August 26, 1922 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, discusses her family; not being raised religious but becoming more religious when she was sent to school; not knowing any Jews when she was growing up; attending school for 10 years; working in a bakery; the bombing of the bakery during the war; meeting her husband; the difficult relationship between her husband and his father; her memories of the German invasion of the Netherlands; preventing her husband from being sent to Germany by pretending to have an infectious disease; the Germans storing coal in their basement; her husband stealing some of the coal to trade for food; working at another bakery; the owner of the bakery condoning the German customers propositioning the bakery’s female employees; quitting her job at the bakery because of this; seeing the deportation of Jews and the violent actions of the Germans; her interaction with a German soldier; her husband being in the resistance; and her memories of liberation.
