Oral history interview with Yahad-In Unum interviewee 305B

A Belarusian man, born in 1931, discusses his experiences in Byten (Brest Oblast), Belarus before and during WWII; the Jewish community; the German occupation; the creation of a ghetto, where the Jews were forced to live; the non-Jewish locals bringing food to the ghetto; the Jews secretly selling their goods to locals while living in the ghetto; the Germans finding Jews hiding in the forest and killing them; the killing of Germans and Polizei by partisans; the several mass murders of Jews; the graves of the Jews being pillaged; and knowing of one Jew who successfully hid during the war and survived.
