    Interview Summary
    Natalija Manikienė (nee Oržekauskaitė), born in 1922 in Alaučiai, Lithuania, describes living in Šakiai when the war began; the Jews in Šakiai; going to Raguva, where she lived with her aunt; the restrictions placed upon the Jewish community in Šakiai under German occupation; mass murders of the local Jews by local Nazi collaborators, local policemen, and German soldiers; the looting of Jewish owned belongings; and visiting the mass burial site.

    This is a witness interview of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Perpetrators, Collaborators, and Witnesses: The Jeff and Toby Herr Testimony Initiative, a multi-year project to record the testimonies of non-Jewish witnesses to the Holocaust.
