    Interview Summary
    Elena Braškienė, born in 1921 in Gižiai, Lithuania, discusses prewar relations between Jews and Christians in Giedraičiai; her family's move to Kopustiškės in 1925; hearing a mass shooting; Jewish prisoners attempting to escape to Poland; anti-Jewish violence; attempts by many in the village to hide a young Jewish boy; and the fate of Jewish property during the war and after the Soviet occupation.

    This is a witness interview of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Perpetrators, Collaborators, and Witnesses: The Jeff and Toby Herr Testimony Initiative, a multi-year project to record the testimonies of non-Jewish witnesses to the Holocaust. The interview was directed and supervised by Nathan Beyrak.
