    Interview Summary
    Henryk Slebzak, born in Wólka Okrąglik, Poland in 1929, discusses the construction of the killing center at Treblinka; the lies German authorities told the local people about the construction of the camp; the German and Ukrainian guards trading with Jewish prisoners on the train; violence by the guards towards Jewish prisoners; trading food and clothes with Jewish prisoners who worked outside the camp; and stories from people who worked inside the camp.

    This is a witness interview of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Perpetrators, Collaborators, and Witnesses: The Jeff and Toby Herr Testimony Initiative, a multi-year project to record the testimonies of non-Jewish witnesses to the Holocaust. The interview was directed and supervised by Nathan Beyrak. Edward Kopowka conducted the interview with Henryk Slebzak in Treblinka, Poland, on July 7,1998, for the Polish Witnesses to the Holocaust Project.The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the tapes of the interview on November 13, 1998.
