    House (the same shown at the beginning of Film ID 2473 - in Amsterdam?). Betsy walks down the stairs dressed in a coat and hat, carrying a briefcase. Robert walks out of the house towards the camera. He takes off his hat and bows. Jeanne exits the house along with Betsy who closes the door. The three stand together. 01:13:24 EXT, family picnic. VAR shots of children playing, people eating, and laying around. 01:14:24 Scenic woods. Family sits and waves to camera. Ice-cream vendor's cart, children gathered around.

    Biography
    Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Robert Kan and his family escaped the Nazis on May 13, 1940 and emigrated to Queens, New York via the Dutch East Indies. He received a BA in Economics from Hofstra Univeristy and worked for thirty years for the US government at the Department of Commerce, the Atomic Energy Commission, the National Science Foundation, and the American Embassy in Tokyo. After retiring from the government, he became a Certified Financial Planner. He was a lifelong Boy Scout and accomplished philatelist. He was married for 58 years to Francisca Verdoner Kan and had three daughters, Jeanette, Susan, and Eleanor.

    The Kan family collection of 16mm films was jointly donated by siblings Robert F. Kan and Betsy Klein to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in May 2002.
    Note
    Title handwritten on film label for all of Film ID 2473: "Winter Amsterdam Bentveld Zandvoort Betsy Naar School Heidi Uitstapje 1934" Not sure which titles correspond to individual stories (4423 to 4425).
