Yochanan Kalfus, born in Vichyne, Ukraine in 1923, discusses his home life; the German occupation; smuggling food into ghettos in Bochnia, Poland and Kraków, Poland; being recruited to a work camp near Plaszów; working for a firm building rails leading to Auschwitz; work, food, and accommodations in Plaszów; life in the forest as a partisan fighter; Shimon Regel and Gustav Davidson; passing as a non-Jew; the advance of the Russians; liberation; and his immigration to Israel in 1948.
