    Kurt Loeb, born on July 7, 1925 in Andernach am Rhein, Germany, discusses his early life and family; pre-war antisemitism; effect of the Nuremberg Laws of 1935; Kristallnacht; the arrest of his father then release because he was a veteran; walking with his mother to Kern to join his uncle’s family; walking back to Andernach am Rhein after his uncle said they could not stay in Kern; the confiscation of their house; living in a space at his father’s business; leaving Germany by train for Genoa, Italy; and then immigrating to the United States.
