    Interview Summary
    Louie Mermelstein, born on May 12, 1927 in Kliachanovo (near Munkács), Czechoslovakia, discusses the Hungarian occupation; hiding in the woods in the spring of 1944; obtaining forged papers; passing as non-Jew; receiving aid from non-Jews; being deported to Sarvar concentration camp in July 1944; jumping from the train to Auschwitz; finding his aunt and uncle in Bratislava hidden by a Hungarian woman, Erszi Neni, in fall of 1944; liberation by the Soviet Army; living in multiple displaced persons camps; and immigrating to the United States in June 1946.
