    Fred Sarne, born on May 24, 1906 in Bernburg, Germany, discusses his youth in Hamburg, Germany; being drafted for hard labor June 6, 1939; moving to Lodz Ghetto on October 25, 1941; his deportation to Auschwitz concentration camp; forced labor at Auschwitz III (Buna/Monowitz) coal mines; Janina coal mine; death march from Auschwitz through Gliwice (Gleiwitz) on January 16, 1945; returning to Hamburg post-war; and immigrating to the United States in 1950.
