    Adolf Topel, born in Wi?lica, Poland, discusses his family and education; living in Nowy Korczyn (near Tarnov) from 1933 to 1939; fleeing to Lwów; staying in Lutsk when the Soviet Army occupied the area; working in a coalmine; getting injured at work; his hospitalization; going to Orsk in the Ural mountains in 1942; working rebuilding factories; working as a dentist from 1943 to 1945; marrying in 1945; applying to emigrate from the Soviet Union but being denied in 1978; and immigrating to the United States in March 1989.
