    Interview Summary
    Genia Zwirn (née Fajgenblat), born on March 7, 1925 in B?dzin (near Katowice), Poland, discusses her orthodox family; her childhood impressions of prewar antisemitism; Jewish life; Zionist groups; the German occupation; the burning of the synagogue; her family being able to stay together bcause her father was an upholsterer; internment in B?dzin ghetto in 1942; the death march to Sudetendau, Czechoslovakia in February 1944; celebrating Passover; reading Haggadah; Jewish kapos pretending to hit them; daily routines; liberation by the Soviets in May 1945; returning to her hometown and meeting her husband, David Zwirn, on the way; marrying in Poland in October 1945; being smuggled to Germany with help from Irgun; living in Feldafing displaced persons camp; and immigrating to the United States in 1949.
